Six Finalists Named for Flyers Hall of Fame

Today, the Flyers announced the six finalists for induction in the team's Hall of Fame during the 2021-22 season. The finalists are as follows: Mark Recchi (player), Rick Tocchet (player), Simon Gagne (player), Paul Holmgren (player, coach, GM, team president), Bob Kelly (player, Ambassador of Hockey) and Lou Nolan (PR department, public address announcer).

The short list of candidates was boiled down to six from a long list suggested by the Nominating Committee. It will now be up to the Voting Committee to choose this year's inductee(s).

The Voting Committee is comprised of current Flyers Hall of Fame members, Flyers alumni, members of the Flyers front office, broadcasters, and members of the Philadelphia chapter of the Professional Hockey Writers Association (PHWA).

Remembering McCrimmon and Dailey

Today marks 10 years since the tragic plane crash in Yaroslavl, Russia, that took the life of Brad McCrimmon and the entire Lokomotiv team en route to its KHL regular season opener in Riga, Latvia. The game would have been McCrimmon's professional head coaching debut. During his playing career in Philadelphia, "the Beast" was paired with Mark Howe to form the most dominant defensive duo in franchise history. McCrimmon won the 1984-85 Barry Ashbee Trophy. The next season, he posted a +83 ranking while Howe posted a franchise record +85.

Today is also the 5th anniversary of the passing of Bob Dailey following a long bout with cancer. The two-time NHL All-Star and two-time Barry Ashbee Trophy winner had his career end prematurely at age 28 due to a shattered ankle that forced his retirement.
