Quick Hits: September 4, 2021
1) The 2021
USA Hockey Warrior Classic will be held on Nov. 4-7, 2021, at the Flyers Skate Zone in Voorhees and the Hollydell Ice Arena in Sewell, New Jersey. Last year's tournament had to be canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Back in 2019, the Flyers Warriors team, which was less than a year old at that point, won the championship in their tournament tier. This year, the Flyers Warriors will once again take on an array of teams affiliated with
USA Hockey's Warrior program, including several other teams with affiliations to NHL organizations.
Later this month, the Flyers Warriors will hold a training camp to prepare in earnest for the run-up to the Warrior Classic. I'll have more info when full details are available.
In its still-young existence, the Flyers Warriors program has grown exponentially, to where there are now "A-level", "B-level" and "C-level" rosters under the direction of head coach Brad Marsh and assistant coaches Rob Baer and Bob "the Hound" Kelly.
On a related note: The second annual Flyers Warriors Raffle is underway. The grand prize is a pair of lower-level Flyers season tickets for the 2021-22 season. Second prize is an autographed Cam Atkinson Flyers jersey. Third prize is an autographed Ryan Ellis Flyers jersey. Fourth prize is four tickets to a Flyers home game in 2021-22. Fifth prize is a pair of tickets to a home game in 2021-22.
Tickets are being sold one for $20 or three for $50. Tickets can be purchased through any Flyers Warriors player. This year, the Flyers Warriors will not be selling tickets through their social media accounts. However, if you need assistance purchasing a ticket, you can contact the Flyers Warriors via their social media accounts.
The raffle drawing will take place on October 2, 2021. Proceeds benefit the Flyers Warriors program.

2) Flyers Alumni Birthday: John Vanbiesbrouck (1963).
3) Sept. 4 in Flyers History: In 1979, the Flyers named recently retired Bernie Parent as the team's new goaltending coach to work in conjunction with his own idol and mentor, Jacques Plante.
