The Edmonton Oilers and newly acquired forward Warren Foegele have come to terms on a three year deal worth 2.75 million a season. This buys one year of Foegele's UFA status and will have him signed until the age of 28.

While losing Ethan Bear was a tough pill to swallow, Foegele is an excellent two way forward who is able to produce from a third line role without having to rely on the top end players to dish him the puck, something the Oilers have lacked for far too long. Foegele should be avle to produce 10+ goals from a third line while being a reliable PK option as well. As a young player Foegele could even slot up into the top six when he is on a hot streak or if injuries arise. He is an excellent player to bring into the fold and this is a good value extension.

Edmonton has given qualifying offers to Benson, Marody, Skinner, and Yamamoto and all that remains is to officially lock these players up. Edmonton is right up against the cap right now but they will have some wiggle room over the cap which will be relieved once they can play Oscar Klefbom on LTIR.

Edmonton still likely wants to sign another bottom six winger, a left shot defenseman who plays a more physical game and explore the trade market for a way to deal Koskinen and acquire a different netminder. Some of these may not come for another few weeks to even a couple of months.
