The Wild added to their blueline, with the signing of Dmitry Kulikov. Kulikov is signed to a 2-year $4.5M contract.

Kulikov is coming off a down season that began with New Jersey and ended with him playing 10 games with Edmonton following his trade to the Oilers. Kulikov is a former 1st round pick (14th overall 2009) for the Florida Panthers. He has offensive ability but his bigger assets come in the form of blocked shots and his 5 on 5 metrics.

In another move Bill Guerin sent Brennan Menell to the Maple Leafs for a conditional 7th round pick. Not sure what went wrong here, but it clearly looks on the surface like Guerin was convinced last off season when Menell rejected the Wild contract offer and signed in the KHL.

Either way this move gives away an asset for essentially nothing, so a real head scratcher.

Some depth moves were also made as Andrew Hammond, Kyle Rau, and Dakota Mermis were all resigned to bolster the Iowa Wild. The Wild also signed defenseman, Jon Lizotte and Joe Hicketts, along with forward Dominic Turgeon to two way contracts. All three should bolster the Iowa Wild roster and provide organizational depth.

The blueline is filling out, but how about the centers?

Summer of Wild continues.
