As free agency opened Bill Guerin made a couple signings early adding, Grand Rapids native,, Alex Gologosky, on a one year $5M dollar deal. He also inked Frederick Gaudreau to a 2-year, $2.4M contract.

Both Ian Cole (Carolina) and Nick Bonino (San Jose) signed elsewhere as was expected.

Gologoski will pencil in the top four but not sure he is exactly replacing Ryan Suter by any stretch and at $5M even though just one year, it appears to be quite the overspend for a 35 year old defenseman who is clearly on the downside of a very good NHL career.

The burning question still is who will be playing center for the Wild as the team's biggest need is still very much the same as it was this time a year ago.

We will see as more of Guerin's plan unfolds...
