The New York Islanders issued qualifying offers to retain the rights of six players, according to CapFriendly.com. One notable player who didn’t receive one, however, was forward Michael Dal Colle.

Dal Colle was selected fifth-overall by the Islanders back in the 2014 NHL Draft, but has failed to make an impact since then. He’s played just 111 NHL games with New York over the last four seasons, scoring eight goals and 21 points. Especially over the last couple of years, he’s been given an opportunity to win a full-time spot in the lineup but couldn’t take advantage of it. Now 25 years old, it seems likely that Dal Colle won’t develop into an effective NHL forward.

Dal Colle wasn’t the only player who didn’t receive a qualifying offer from the Islanders, as both Dmytro Timashov and Bobo Carpenter are now set to become unrestricted free agents as well.
