The Devils acquire a physical defenseman, something they desperately need. One that would compete for top 3 minutes. Only 26 years old, he fots right into the mix.
Physicality, a cannon of a shot this is just what the doctor ordered.

I think this is a trade that adds a protected guy. My last blog had my protected list for the upcoming expansion draft. This moves affects that list.

Swap Siegenthaler and protect Graves. Simple. Done.

Maltsev showed promise but the Devils have plenty, higher profile and projections, players that fit the bill. The Devils definitely dealt from a position of strength.

The second rounder added to Maltsev is the price to pay.

Very good deal for the Devils.
