Wedge signed!

Scott Wedgewood has derned him another contract.

Today the Devils announce they have signed Wedgewood to a one-year, two-way contract worth $825,000 at the NHL and $375,000. They key to the deal is the "two way" nature.

In the 16 games Wedgwood played this past season, he certainly did his job earning him Bill Masterson Trophy nomination.

At this salary, I certainly think is a solid one for a backup (3rd string, in reality). The Top way feature allows the Devils to still pursue a veteran goalie to add to the lineup.

I do believe the Devils are still looking for that veteran back, or 1B goalie, which Crawford was supposed to fill last year. With the expansion draft coming and the Devils in a very very good salary cap position they may likely bring in that veteran goalie via a strategic salary cap trade - A Jonathan Quick, comes to mind and would fill that need.

All while having a cost effective third string in Wedgewood.

Personally, I believe this was as solid signing by the Devils with very little risk.

Burning Question...
What do you think of the Wedgewood signing?
And who are other potential veteran goalies that could fill that need for the Devils?
