The Carolina Hurricanes have signed goaltenders Pyotr Kochetkov and Eetu Makiniemi to entry-level contracts, beginning next season.

Kochetkov was selected by the Hurricanes with the 36th overall pick in the 2019 NHL Draft. He spent the majority of his season in the KHL, playing 10 games between two teams and posting a .924 save percentage. His entry-level contract is two years and carries an AAV of $842,500. I wrote an article last year talking about expectations for Kochetkov, which you can read here.

Makiniemi was selected by Carolina in the fourth round of the 2017 NHL Draft. He spent his year in the Liiga, Finland’s highest league, posting a .907 save percentage in 34 games. Makiniemi’s deal, which is also two years, carries an AAV of $867,500.

Which of the two goaltending prospects do you think has the better shot at earning a full-time role with the Hurricanes at some point?
