St. Louis appears to have the Wild's number this season. In four games played the Wild have managed to secure three points while largely being out played by the Blues.

In the first meeting it was Cam Talbot who literally stole the victory for the Wild as he stopped all 37 shots he faced while the Wild capitalized on two of their 11 shots for the 2-0 victory.

The second game was a thorough Blues thrashing of the Wild in the 9-1 drubbing. The next night the Wild regrouped and surrender a late lead allowing the Blues to tie the game with the goalie pulled and then win it with a couple seconds to play in OT. Then last night the Wild faltered in the third period after holding a 3-1 lead heading into the final frame.

Not sure exactly what it is but the Wild are having a very difficult time matching up with the Blues for a full 60 minutes.

The Honda/West Division is a story of the haves and the have nots, and the Wild have feasted on the have not, bit that portion of the season is over and the real season has begun even if not officially. Dean Evason has done a remarkable job with this Wild roster all season and now it is time for the team to start taking those next steps to not only compete but win and close out victories against the top 3 teams in the West.

Yes, St. Louis, despite what the record shows is a top three team and the Wild have some work to do to step up into the Avalanche, Golden Knights, and Blues class.

Tonight in the second half of a back to back is the perfect opportunity for Evason's team to respond.

It's Always Hockey Day in The State of Hockey!
