Six of the eight games played this season between the Philadelphia Flyers and New York Islanders went beyond regulation. The Flyers concluded the series with a 3-1-4 mark against the Islanders, following a 1-0 overtime loss on Sunday evening at the Wells Fargo Center.

The game ended on a broken play that went the Islanders' way. After Kevin Hayes gave up puck possession to the Islanders, New York reset in the neutral zone and gained entry an attempted cross-ice pass from Nick Leddy went off Flyers' defenseman Travis Sanheim's stick and re-directed between the legs of goalie Brian Elliott to end the game at 2:23.

Philadelphia was the better team by a wide margin in the first and second periods but were unable to bury a single opportunity against Ilya Sorokin (30-save shutout). New York had the better of play in the third period but the Flyers killed off a pair of penalties.

Sunday's game was Hockey Fights Cancer Night at the Wells Fargo Center. Flyers left winger Oskar Lindblom said he did not expect to feel as emotional as he did when fans, teammates and the opposing team paid tributes to him on this night, and it was something he will remember for the rest of his life. Every teammate wore Lindblom's name and number 23 on their warmup jerseys, and Lindblom took a solo lap at the start of the warmups. Flyers and Islanders players alike tapped their sticks as he received an ovation from the crowd and waved.
