I don’t think I’ve written this so far this season, but this one is on Jake Allen. I’d give him a pass for the first goal that came 18 seconds in as he was screened, but he should have had the others. You cannot give 3 goals on 6 shots and hope that your team will bail you out, plain and simple.
The Habs shot 38 times on the Jets’ net tonight but this is not soccer, putting a shot on net doesn’t mean you’ll get a chance to score. Most of the shots in the first came from far out and where no challenge for Connor Hallebucyk. Of course, his posts did help him out at times, but he’s still the reigning Vezina trophy winner.
The Canadiens could have won that game, the won almost 60% of the face-offs and the Jets defense was as permissive as always but it just wasn’t to be. Kotkaniemi had a great game, 2 assists, +2, 4 shots, 2 takeaways and I have to say, he fits in well with the Tatar-Danault tandem.
The Danault line was great, and the 4th line was as well, but it was complicated for the other 2 lines. The Drouin-Staal-Toffoli line just didn’t work, Staal finished the game with a -3 and he did look tired out there, he was feeling every single one of his 35 years in this 2nd game in as many games. It was also tough for Suzuki this evening, who took 2 penalties including one at the worst of times and the same goes for Josh Anderson. As for Jonathan Drouin, I’ll talk about him tomorrow…
Today, Ducharme said that Carey Price could be back next week. I don’t know about you, but I’m getting a strong “déjà vu” feeling. What this tells me is that Price has strained a ligament in his knee. I know, Ducharme said it had been nagging him for a while and it wasn’t sustained in a particular play in his last game, but who’s to say that play didn’t make a nagging little injury worst? I honestly believe he’ll be out for at least 2 weeks, but time will tell…
The Habs now only have 3 games in hand on Winnipeg and trail them by 8 points, in the long run, this loss could be costly. Still the Habs can thank their lucky star that both Vancouver and Calgary are having an atrocious year.
Je ne crois pas avoir déjà écrit ça cette saison, mais cette défaite revient à Jake Allen. Je ne lui impute pas la faute pour le premier but qui est venu avec à peine 18 secondes d’écoulées dans le match, Weber lui a voilé la vue, mais il aurait dû arrêter les autres. Tu ne peux pas donner 3 buts sur 6 tirs et espérer que ton équipe te tirera du pétrin, aussi simple que ça.
Les Habs ont tiré 38 fois sur le filet des Jets ce soir, mais c’est du hockey, pas du soccer, mettre la rondelle sur le filet ne donne pas automatiquement une chance de marquer. La plupart des lancers en 1ere période sont venus de la périphérie et ne représentaient pas vraiment un défi pour Connor Hellebucyk. Oui, ses poteaux l’ont aidé par moment, mais il demeure le dernier gagnant du trophée Vézina.
Les Canadiens auraient pu gagner ce match, ils ont remporté presque 60% des mises en jeu et la défense des Jets a été aussi permissive que toujours, mais ce n’était pas dans les cartes. Kotkaniemi a connu un très bon match; 2 passes, +2, 4 tirs, il a causé 2 revirements et, je dois le dire, il complète très bien le tandem Tatar-Danault.
La ligne de Danault a été très bonne, et le 4e trio aussi, mais ce fut une soirée compliquée pour les 2 autres lignes. La combinaison Drouin-Staal-Toffoli n’a tout simplement pas fonctionné, Staal a terminé le match avec une fiche de -3 et il avait l’air fatigué sur la glace, il semblait ressentir chacune de ses 35 années dans ce 2e match en 48 heures. Soirée difficile pour Suzuki également, il a pris deux punitions incluant une au pire moment et on peut dire la même chose pour Josh Anderson. Quant à Jonathan Drouin, je vous en reparlerai demain…
Aujourd’hui, Ducharme a mentionné que Carey Price pourrait être de retour la semaine prochaine. Je ne sais pas pour vous, mais moi j’ai un très fort sentiment de déjà vue. Ce que ça me dit à moi, c’est que Price a un ligament étiré dans le genou. Je sais, Ducharme a dit que la blessure l’ennuyait depuis un petit bout de temps et qu’elle n’avait pas été subie dans un jeu particulier du dernier match, mais qui dit que ledit jeu n’a pas empiré cette blessure fatigante qu’il trimbale depuis quelques temps? Je crois sincèrement, qu’il sera absent pour au moins 2 semaines...qui vivra, verra…
Le CH n’a plus que 3 matchs en main sur les Jets et ils accusant maintenant un retard de 8 matchs sur eux. À long terme, cette défaite pourrait être coûteuse. Les Canadiens peuvent remercier leur bonne étoile que Vancouver et Calgary connaissent une très mauvaise saison.
