This trade moves out 7M in cap space for the Panthers.(3.5 per year over two years). Space they gained from players NOT in their lineup. They will be able to do something else for sure. When has a team been in the top 5 at the deadline and had close to 20M in cap space to play with?
Even if they don't use all of it, this summer they will be nicely positioned.
