Already hit very hard by the injury bug the Wild now are dealing with an outbreak of COVID-19, where it is being reported that roughly six players have tested positive and the team will fly home prior to Thursday's game with the Avalanche

Marcus Foligno was already on the NHL'S COVID list and the hope was that he would be an isolated case, but that appears to not be the case unfortunately.

The additional Wild positives are Marcus Johansson, Nick Bjugstad, Nick Bonino, Jared Spurgeon, and Joel Eriksson Ek according to the league. Tyson Jost of Colorado was also added to the list as well.

No official word but one would think that the remainder of the road trip which would have included two games in Arizona against the Coyotes will not be played as scheduled.

The only bright spot may come in the form of some added time for injured Wild players, Marcus Johansson, Matt Dumba, and now Jared Spurgeon to heal a bit.

The Wild, despite losing 2-1 last night played a very inspired game following their 4-3 OT win Sunday night. Both if those games saw a depleted Wild lineup play an up tempo game against the much deeper and talented Avalanche.

Cam Talbot was outstanding in both games giving hope that the Wild are making significant strides in the progression to get back to being a playoff team.

We have known all along that this is a transition year for the Wild, but don't tell the team that. They are playing a better brand of hockey that is exciting and fun to watch.

More to come as this unfolds...
