This morning, Jesperi Kotkaniemi’s team in Finland, Pori tweeted that his loan was up today:

I see this as good news, if the Habs are pulling the plug on the loan, it probably means that they expect NHL hockey to be back sooner rather than later and they need to young Finn to come back on this side of the pond to comply with the quarantine rules before camp starts. Futhermore, KK has now shaken off the rust and there’s no point in keeping him playing meaningless games and risking an injury before the real season starts. A bit later, Arpon Basu tweeted the following:

So, nothing is set in stone, but the wheels are in motion! To be honest, I’m quite hopeful that things will get worked out soon. The NHL cannot afford to stand on the sideline while all other major sports league that are in season are playing. The NFL season is in full swing and the NBA is opening its doors once again on December 25th. I know, they’ll lose a ton of money if they play without fans in the arena, but they need to remain relevant and hold on to their share of the market.

Meanwhile, the Florida Panthers announced that they’ve hired Shane Churla as their Director of Amateur Scouting. Churla was part of Trevor Timmins’ team in Montreal and had spent the last 7 seasons with the Habs. For the first 3 years, he was Chief of Amateur Scouting and he spent the last 4 seasons as Director of Amateur Scouting once Timmins was promoted to Assistant General Manager. Why the change of scenery for Churla? Well, probably because in Montreal, Timmins is still the one who has the final say as to who the Habs draft.

For those of you who are contemplating buying some Habs merchandise as Christmas gifts, it’s worth noting that Tricolore Sports is running a Black Friday sale all week:

And if there are Tomas Tatar fans out there, number 90 announced the launch of his very own website today. The proceed from the sale of his apparel will be donated to the Dawson Boys and Girls Club a non-profit organization in Montreal. Got to love the fact that he’s used everyone’s favorite GIF on it!
