The Toronto Maple Leafs along with the 30 other NHL clubs revealed their reverse retro jerseys over the weekend, which were labeled as “throwback jerseys” with “a colorful mix of primary and secondary logos, old school and new school striping, and reimagined classics” that will be worn by each club for multiple games during designated rivalry games for the 2020-21 regular season.
The design is the Maple Leafs jersey from the Harold Ballard era (1970 to 1992) without the 11-point Leaf emblem. The logo is an oversized (to say the least) of the one worn in the 1967 Stanley Cup Championship season until 1970.
It was understood that the issuing of these retro uniforms was aimed towards generating revenue for the NHL when they are hurting financially, but in my opinion the Toronto jersey is not very attractive and will not generate a lot of interest from the majority of Leafs Nation.
