With the NHL Draft approaching, the Anaheim Ducks will have an important decision to make with the sixth-overall pick. I wrote an article in June, which highlighted seven players who the Ducks could select with the sixth-overall pick and over the next week or so, I’ll be doing individual player profiles on them. This article will focus on Cole Perfetti.

Perfetti isn’t a large forward but he is extremely skilled. In his second season with the OHL’s Saginaw Spirit this year, he was an offensive force, scoring 37 points and 111 points in 61 games. He’s a bit of a wildcard in the top-10 and probably could go anywhere from fourth overall all the way to eighth or ninth overall, as it seems like different scouts feel differently about him.

He has great hands and is agile enough to avoid opponents, which makes him dangerous when he gets into the offensive zone. He has an accurate shot and can certainly score, but doesn’t necessarily rely on his goal-scoring ability as much as Alexander Holtz or Jack Quinn do. Perfetti is a great playmaker as well and he’s consistently able to buy time and hold on to the puck in order to find a teammate in a good position. Some have noted his intensity being a potential issue but after watching him more, while it may not be a huge asset like some other players in the top-10, it's not a concern of mine.

It’s clear that Perfetti has a very high ceiling and all the tools to be a star. He’s a sure bet to be a strong top-six forward at the very least and to me, it will just come down to who’s still available when it’s Anaheim’s turn to pick. Perfetti should certainly be a player on the Ducks’ radar and if Jamie Drysdale and Marco Rossi are off the board, he could certainly be an option.
