While the Canadiens’ players did not claim any of the individual trophies awarded this season, Nick Suzuki has just been name to the NHL All Rookie Team. It’s the first time a Canadiens’ forward is named to the team since Brendan Gallagher made it in 2012-2013. Before him, the last two Habs to figure on the list were P.K. Subban in 2010-2011 and Carey Price in 2007-2008, that’s some pretty elite company right there.

The other member of this years’ All Rookie Team as voted by the Professional Hockey Writers Association are: Dominik Khubalik (CHI), Victor Olofsson( BUF), Quinn Hughes (VAN), Cale Makar (COL) and Elvis Merzlikins (CBJ).

To earn his spot, Suzuki racked up 41 points in 71 games this season and went from playing the wing on the 4th line to pivoting the Habs’ 2nd line. The centre also stole the spotlight in the playoffs for the Canadiens, leading the team in points with 7 (4 goals and 3 assists). The future looks bright for Suzuki and let’s hope he can avoid the sophomore jinx this upcoming season!
