Weekend Quick Hits: Sept 12-13, 2020

1) Flyers head coach Alain Vigneault will have his remote Exit Day media availability on Monday at 10:30 a.m. ET. There will also be new Flyers Broadcast Network content coming your way early next week. Vigneault will be doing an exclusive one-on-one interview with Jason Myrtetus for Flyers Daily. Additionally, Tim Saunders. Jim Jackson, Steve Coates, Chris Therien and I will be doing a new "Broadcasters' Roundtable".

2) On the Flyers website, there will be fresh articles looking ahead to the offseason. One will look at the Flyers internal free agents. Another will discuss the young players the team may need to rely on to play larger NHL roles next season. Currently, there is a Sean Couturier's Selke Trophy winning 2019-20 season and a video of the team's top-line center discussing the award, plus an Exit Day synopsis of five takeaway quotes from general manager Chuck Fletcher's media availability on Friday.

3) Islanders general manager Lou Lamoriello has won the 2019-20 Jim Gregory Award as NHL General Manager of the Year. Unlike most NHL awards, the voting was conducted at the end of the second round of the playoffs, rather than at the end of the regular season. NHL club general managers and a panel of NHL executives, print and broadcast media voted on the award.

Based on the timing of the vote, it was not surprising that Lamoriello won, nor was it surprising that the other two finalists were Tampa Bay general manager Julien Brisebois and Dallas GM Jim Nill, as all three teams have reached their conference finals. However, Kelly McCrimmon of the Vegas Golden Knights finished fifth, one spot behind Colorado's Joe Sakic.

Flyers general manager Fletcher finished seventh in the balloting, including one first-place and one second-play vote.

4) Flyers left winger James van Riemsdyk finished 18th in the Lady Byng Trophy vote, including one first-place and one second-place vote.
