Coyotes vs Predators Series Stats

Damn, what a weird weekend.

On one hand, my Coyotes completely goalie the Preds to snatch a somewhat (possibly very) undeserved victory from the jaws of defeat, and then on the other, my hometown Leafs do the exact opposite and leave the bubble to meet up with Nashville.

Goalies, they will get you every time.

But let us revel in the Coyotes victory, and breakdown the stats from the series.

Naturalstattrick.com is providing the stats. (All stats 5v5).

Through four games, Nashville dominated possession, posting a 56% Corsi.

They outshot the Coyotes 132-95, good for 58% of the shots.

The Coyotes outscored them 10-6 at 5v5, but the Predators had 58% expected goals.

When it comes to scoring chances, Nashvill had 56% of both the regular and high danger variety.

Nashville finished with a preposterously low PDO of 94, while the Coyotes were well over 100 on the back of Darcy Kuemper's absolutely nuts .954 5v5 save percentage.

Four Coyotes - Hall, Ekman-Larsson, Kessel and Keller - finished the four game series with a point per game.

But Hall was brutal, posting a 38% CF and getting absolutely destroyed at even-strength.

The Coyotes got two big goals from Brad Richardson and Michael Grabner which were all the difference.

In the next round against the Avalanche I would really like to see the Coyotes play better, but if they couldn't handle the Preds, I don't know how they'll handle the Avs.

On the bright side, the Coyotes have the goaltending advantage, and apparently that's all that really matters.
