Breaking...

THE MLS just announced they are delaying their re-start.

previously...

The NHL and NHLPA are a fine, well-oiled machine....is something that I NEVER imagined I would say..and yet here we are...A CBA about to be ratified, and the NHL telling its players it understands that some players may have issues with participating in the playoffs in a bubble right now and they have given ANY player the option to inform their team they will NOT be playing for any reason....72 hours after the CBA is agreed to.

Will anyone opt out?

Chances are slim. The NHL is a culture where anyone doing this would really have to show their teammates much more than just concern about contracting the virus. NHL Players love to play and they are all about playing. the NHLPA knows this and so does the NHL. This gesture was a solid by the NHL, but honestly a really easy one to make.

We have heard about NBA players and MLB players who are refusing to play already. The closest we have seen here is Artemi Panarin's volley which turns out had more to do with the Escrow negotiations for the new CBA than the upcoming tournament.

And the escrow deal the sides agreed to in principle does indeed look like it will make the players more comfortable with what is an obviously needed system of escrow.

Would you play?
