It looks like the NHL and the NHLPA won't be missing any more time as a result of labor disputes....and that is NOT the norm for sure!

The sides are close to announcing a new CBA extension for the next 6 years which shows just how far the sides have grown.

The changes are small but actually all of them make the current agreement more and more fair, including a key change that should make dedicated readers of this space VERY happy..

NMC and NTC Stick

No Movement Clauses and No Trade Clauses used to possibly die once a player once agreed to waive the clause and move on....unless the team getting the player agreed to keeping that aspect...

Why we like that..."
If you are a hockeybuzz reader the chances are you like trades...and this change will mean more player movement. A player works hard to get to the level to negotiate an NTC or NMC, and they do it for one main reason: The ability to control where you play for the entire contract. That kind of control is tough to come by in the world of pro sports.

But these are the same kind of players who generally have big contracts and are often very desired in a deal. Previously when a player would waive this clause he would do so to be able to go to a team he wants to play for. However, he was also putting a ton of trust that his new team wouldn't move him to a team he doesn't want to play for down the line...So therefore we have seen MANY players turn down a trade, even to a desired team, because there were still many years to go and he could get moved again.

So this change will result in more rumors and more movement....

Everyone wins!

More to come as we are just a few days from actual camps opening!
