Quick Hits: July 1, 2020

1) According to Bob McKenzie, it sounds more and more like both hub cities for Phase 4 of the NHL return-to-play plan will be in Canada: Edmonton and Toronto. The candidacy of longtime rumored front-runner Las Vegas has been hindered by the recent uptick in Covid-19 cases. Cases in Canada are significantly lower, and more stable, than in the United States.

McKenzie also reports that there has been significant progress toward an agreement on a new CBA between the NHL and the NHL Players Association, including NHL participation in the 2022 and 2026 Olympics (pending an agreement with the IOC), a flat salary cap for several seasons, and a cap on escrow.

2) Today on the Flyers official website, we have two feature articles:

* A look at Connor Bunnaman and Carsen Twarynski's preparations to be Aces when the Flyers' roster expands for the playoffs.

* A Canada Day celebration, Flyers style. I will post the link when the article goes live.

3) July 1 Flyers Alumni birthdays: Justin Bailey (1995), Claude LaForge (1936), Dan McGillis (1972).
