The newly formed Hockey Diversity Alliance led by Evander Kane and Akim Aliu as co-heads of the organization with the mission to "eradicate racism and intolerance in hockey". Matt Dumba is a member of the executive board along with former Wild forward Chris Stewart, Wayne Simmonds of the Sabres, Trevor Daley from the Wings, and former NHL forward Joel Ward.

Dumba wants to be a leader in this movement to do his part in making the game better by not only by eliminating racism, but also by creating more opportunities for the less fortunate to be able to participate in the game.

Leadership is so key to anything being accomplished and the fact that Dumba wants to be a leader in the Hockey community not only in his adopted home in the State of Hockey, but also in his home city of Calgary and across the Hockey community worldwide.

Dumba along with Iowa Wild forward J.T. Brown are working on a fundraising effort for those affected in Minnesota. Both players have been very vocal in how they are not going to sit idly by. They are putting the action behind the words and being leaders in the community.

The HDA has received advice from Colin Kaepernick as they prepare to take this mission on head first with hope of taking it far beyond Hockey to other sports.

Hockey really is for everyone and all should and must be afforded the opportunity to experience the game without fear of racism or discrimination of any kind.

Let's do our part and help Matt Dumba and the HDA to achieve their goals to eradicate racism and intolerance in hockey.
