Kaprizov Maybe?

We all know the deal with signing players once the NHL season was paused. Typically the Wild would have been able to sign Kirill Kaprizov when his KHL contract had expired in April 30th and he would have been eligible to join the club if they had first qualified for the playoffs and advanced of course to still be playing.

With the unprecedented circumstances when the 2019-20 season was put on hold, the NHL made it it clear that free agents would not be able to sign contracts with start date prior to the 2020-21 season.

So that means that regardless of the resumption of the 2019-20 season Kaprizov would have to wait to make his long awaited NHL debut.

That has caused the delay in the Wild's most heralded prospect being signed. There was a report out of Russia that Kaprozov was looking at a 95 percent probability of returning to the KHL for the 2020-21 season as it is scheduled to begin on time.

Now the NHLPA appears to be getting involved in the fight for players in Kaprizov's position to be allowed to be signed and compete when the NHL 2019-20 season resumes.

We will monitor this situation as it moves forward but at this point...there just may a chance.
