The Coyotes will beat the Predators because the Coyotes have the best goalie in the NHL, and his name is Darcy Kuemper.

I don't know if he is related to Ellie Kuemper, but for his sake, I hope he is. She is great.

Anyways, on to the countdown:

Top 50 Coyotes Players

When last we spoke, I named Dallas Drake the 21st best player in the history of the Coyotes. I stand by it.

Today we enter the top 20 with Ed Jovanovski.

With a nickname that references a late 80s /early 90s action movie, you know I am going to love him. Ed "Time Cop" Jovanovski is the Coyotes 20th best player of all-time.

One of only two former-first over-all picks to lace 'em up for the Coyotes, Ed "Jean-Claude" Van-Ovski played five years with the Coyotes in the early 2000s.

His 332 career games in Phoenix rank him 14th in team history. 7th among defensemen. He is 4th in scoring among Coyotes defenseman, and 3rd on a points-per-game basis.

Was he any good at defense? I don't know. Typically such big hitters are not, but he moved the puck pretty well and one year even had 51 points. The advanced stats don't exist to know if he was overrated because of the hitting and the scoring.

But either way, he's #20 and good for him.

#20: The John Hughes Trilogy

Coming in at #20 is yet another trilogy of classics. This set of films is connected only by thematic pursuits, lead actress and the director, but they are a set of movies that go together, and frankly they aren't worth three spots on their own, but they can't be ignored either.

Of course I am talking about 16 Candles, Pretty in Pink and the Breakfast Club.

Obviously as a child of the 80s I grew up half in love with Molly Ringwald, as I'm sure half the people reading this did.

She's no Lisa Loeb maybe, but we still love her. The three movies here are all classics - they're funny, emotional, relatable and of course have killer soundtracks.

The reason John Hughes was a genius is that he knew how to wield cliches for maximum emotional impact so that they were relatable, not stupid. It's like the trick Krusty and Homer do with the tiny tricycle: if you can do it, you look like a genius, but if you fail, you look like a buffoon.

Almost all attempts to parlay cliches into repeatability end up as massive failures, and that is what sets John Hughes apart.

16 Candles is the best of the bunch here, but they are all good.
