Coyotes to Potentially Play Nashville

If the NHL resumes this season - and it doesn't appear that it will, or even should - the Coyotes will play a best of 5 series against the Nashville Predators.

The Coyotes probably wouldn't have made the playoffs if the season went along normally, so the fact that they get to participate in this tournament is a bonus.

The Predators got the 13th best 5v5 save percentage in the NHL this year, and if their goalie was a bit better, they might have challenged for the lead in their division.

Their stats are superior to the Coyotes across the board, except where they concern goalies.

The Coyotes are the 11th seed, but it's only because they got the 4th best goaltending in the NHL this year that they don't have a shot at Alex Laffierrier.

This is a actually a decent matchup for the Coyotes. Since every team making it is better than them - except Chicago and Islanders maybe - they weren't going to get a great matchup, but the Predators aren't anything special and they have a crap goalie.

The Coyotes - no matter who they play - will win if Darcy Keumper decides they win. Sure beats playing Vegas or Edmonton.

Coyotes Best Player Countdown

When last we left off, we had just gone over #23 Sean Burke.

Today, the 22nd best Coyotes player of all time is....................wait for it.......................................Curtis Joseph.

Cujo only played two season for the Coyotes, he was like 37, the team sucked, he didn't even post a save percentage that said he was an NHL goalie.

Still, somehow those two years make him fifth all-time in Coyotes games played by a goalie.

Let's face it, Joseph doesn't deserve to be ranked so highly on this list based on his actual play as a Coyote. But he makes it because he is my favorite goaltending of all-time and I made the damn list.

Plus, top five in games played is still top five in games played. Ultimately Joseph makes it for the same reason Brett Hull made it - it's just cool that he was on the team.

Regular readers of this column know that I'm an idiot whose never even seen a hockey game, but say what you will, there is no denying that I have the best taste in movies in the known universe.

Counting down the top 50 brought us to Serpico last week at #23. Obviously Serpico ____rules, so if there are 22 better movies you know they're going to be amazing.

Today, coming in as the 22nd best movie of all-time is Pop Star: Never Stop Stopping.

Starring Andy Samberg (from the best television show of all-time Brooklyn 99) Pop Star is a mocumentary about a terrible singer named Connor 4 Real.

A funny story about this movie: I am not what you would call a guy who is "on the pulse of pop culture" andI do just assume that whatever I like is universally popular. So when this movie came out, I insisted on going to the see it on the first night it games out.

I took my wife on a date night and made us eat early so we could show up and beat the line.

We were first in line......but then also last in line.....finally when they opened up the theatre, a few people came in, but it couldn't have been more than ten.

It is the only time I've ever been to any event on time, and it wasn't even necessary. Turns out this was not a very popular movie.

It should have been though - it's hilarious and endlessly re-watchable. Plus, it's about music, and all the songs are great. The soundtrack is among the best records of the 2000s.

The movie was somehow a financial failure, proving once and for all that rubes have no taste. The movie should have won the Oscar for Best Picture, but instead something that I haven't even heard of and which I am sure is probably terrible (Moonlight) won.

In fact, of the ten films nominated that year, I have seen one (Arrival) and it sucked. Oh well, no one ever rewards comedy movies, and this is the best one. There is only one more comedy movie on my list, so I guess I'm saying this is the second funniest movie ever made.
