Coyotes Missed Out on Easy To Predict Breakout Season

Anthony Duclair is no longer a member of the Arizona Coyotes.

Unfortunately, like many people of colour in the NHL, he has been given an unearned and unfair reputation as "difficult" or "lazy."

Duclair played three season for the Coyotes, and he's 47th in career franchise scoring with 74 points in 174 games.

The reason I'm ranking him 41st on the all-time list of Coyotes players is for his one great season and his talent and potential.

He scored 20 goals as a rookie, so the next year Coach Dave Tippett played him for 11 minutes per night, because that was a sensible plan with a talented potential star player.

Tippett played Duclair - in his sophomore season - less than Jamie McGuin, Brandon Perlini, Brad Richardson, Jordan Martinhook, Tobias Rieder, Jamie McBain....

Thinking about it now reminds me of how mad I was about it then.

Breakneck speed. Mad determination. A 20 goals, 45 point rookie season, and his reward was being treated like a fourth liner.

He was given the 15th most power-play time on the roster.

In his sophomore year, despite being treated terribly, Duclair had the second best possession rating on the team, and the best expected goals rating.

Somehow Dave Tippett is still an NHL coach though.

Because he's a normal human, Duclair requested a trade and the Coyotes botched it (of course they did). Duclair was sent to the Blackhawks for Laurent Dauphin and Richard Panik.

This is probably Chayka's worst trade. It's an embarrassment. Duclair is just 24 today and was on his way to a career best 30 goal season when the league canceled the season.

Hilarious irony considering the Coyotes can't score and he might be their second or (at worst) third best player if he was still on the team.

For untapped potential, Anthony Duclair gets the 41st position. He should have had a chance to be one of the greatest Coyotes ever. (Stats naturalstattrick.com and quanthockey.com).

Booooooooooo!

The 41st Best Movie of All-Time

Yesterday the John C Rielly classic Rock Hard was our 42nd best movie ever, and today we honour the Winter Solider.

One of the greatest action movies of all-time, and the second best Marvel movie, Captain America 2 is a classic.

For the elevator scene alone this movie might back the list, but it's actually awesome in many ways.

The action is non-stop, the stakes are high, it is part of a hugely ambitious story overall, and the acting is first-rate.

Bucky's hair is amazing, Natasha plays the hottest Bond Girl ever, in what is essentially just a James Bond movie, but actually good.

I am a huge fan of Robert Ludlum, and this felt like a really good Ludlum book. Start to finish, the Winter Solidier kicks ass and that's why it's the 41st best movie ever made.

The Anthony Duclair of film, if you will.
