In today's press conference, François Legault confirmed that schools would be shut until the 1st of May at least. Yet one more clue that it's time to forget about this season, it's over. So with that in mind, it's time to look back on this disaster of a (incomplete) year. I'll start today with my 5 favourite moments of the season because yes, there were some positives. They don't exactly spring to mind right away but if you really think about it, you can find some.

5. The second game of the year: Canadiens vs Maple Leafs
We hate them, they hate us so it doesn't get much better than a Habs Leafs duel on a Saturday night and that one was really something. In the 2nd game of the season, the Habs drew first blood thanks to Max Domi but the Leafs then proceeded to score 4 unanswered goal. Things looked grim to say the least but the Canadiens came back to life and scored 4 goals in 10 minutes in the 3rd (proof that there once was a time when this team could actually play in the third). The Leafs tied it up and we were treated to both overtime and the shootout before the Habs finally got the 2 points. This game was probably one of the best rollercoaster ride ever.

4. An evening of first
That game in mid October, you remember the Habs won 4-0 against the Wild and we witnessed something we had awaited for a very very long time; Victor Mete's first career goal in his 127th game. The Bell Centre literally exploded and if that wasn't enough, well, Nick Suzuki also scored his first career goal in his 7th game. This game gave us a first taste of what the year would be like for the rookie forward. In a very tough season, he was often the bight light in the darkness for the Canadiens.

3. An high octane win in DC

When that 5-2 win unfolded I absolutely loved it, what an enjoyable game! 5 goals from 5 different scorers, heck of a team display, 3 points for Danault and 4 for Tatar, they were on fire! Unfortunately, this is also the game in which both Drouin and Byron were injured and both of them missed significant period of time. This game turned out to be the turning point, the next day, the Habs played the Devils and lost the first game of an 8 game losing streak...I don't think we'll forget about that anytime soon.

4. Kovy wins it with his first in the bleu, blanc, rouge

A Saturday night visit in Ottawa and a tight battle ended in overtime when Kovalchuk scored an absolute laser. Even though the game was in Ottawa the building erupted and Habs fans made their presence known. At that stage, we all knew the season was pretty over but I think we all enjoyed the Kovalshow. He was brought in too late to make a difference but the passion he brought to the game was a joy to see, seeing him reminded me of the Radulov season... Furthermore, he looked so very happy to have scored and liked he enjoyed Montreal so much. We'll never know if there was a gentlemen's agreement in place for him to come back as a free agent this summer I'm afraid... If there are no playoffs, he will not get his run at the cup with the Caps and I doubt he'll want to come back to Montreal if he doesn't get that opportunity...All bets will be off...

5. That shutout win over the Panthers
This game didn't mean a thing but I love it. It's a personal choice and it's probably because I was in attendance at the Bell Centre on that day. The Panthers didn't look like a team who wanted to make the playoffs, in fact they looked like clawless kittens but at least, for once, the Habs jumped on the opportunity to dominate. This was also the game in which Jeff Petry got 4 points, an assist on every single one of the Canadiens' goal on the day... good times!

What were your highlights this season? Let's keep the lowlights for another day ok? We could all use some positivity!
