Game 62: Canadiens vs Red Wings AKA Yet Another Milestone

Last night, the Habs started the game pretty well against the Wings going up 2-0 and then 3-1 but as it happens too often this season, it all came crashing down and they suffered a 5th consecutive loss and a 4th one against the league’s worst team this season. To make matters worst, hours after trading Marco Scandella to the Blues, the Habs saw Victor Mete receive a shot on the foot and leave the game. In the final frame, the Habs got scored on 3 times in a span of 10 minutes and the Wings took the 2 points thanks to a 4-3 win.

Unfortunately there aren’t too many things to say about yet another Habs loss... Weber is playing through an injury in a lost cause, the coach seems dejected and out of ideas and collectively, this team has got no self confidence left whatsoever. The Canadiens recalled Folin from Laval this morning which may mean that things are not looking good for Mete or perhaps they want to have a spare d-man following the Scandella trade, time will tell.

What’s next for the Habs? Well they’ll arrive in Washington “riding” a 5 games losing streak and they’ll quite possibly be able to have a 3rd 8 games losing streak on the season. I know they are only playing the Sens on Saturday but is there really a team, any team that cannot take the Habs right now? I truly do not think there is...

Let’s focus on the positives though, each loss gives them better odds at bagging a high draft pick in what is meant to be a great draft class. It’s sad to say but that is in fact the best thing that we can all hope for in this mess of a season...
