Some potential news coming out tonight about the Penguins next probable outdoor game.

NHL formally announces Carolina will host an outdoor game next season. Opponent yet to be determined -- gotta think PIT & Jim Rutherford is a consideration

This is an easy way to award a market like Carolina an outdoor game while drawing a connection with a marquee opponent. The Penguins have already played in five of these contests and it will be criticized much like the Chicago Blackhawks participation in these events has been. It is understandable for the criticism and also for the league to place the Penguins in the game. If the Penguins are indeed the opponent at least it will be in a unique market who had been ignored for one of these games.

If for nothing else I am always intrigued by what the Penguins will do for their jersey selection.
