In this edition of the hotstove, we discuss which team(s) would be the best fit for Tyler Toffoli.

I’ll give one in each conference.
Boston seems like an ideal fit. They’re looking for a skilled winger who can play on the right side of L2 with Jake DeBrusk and David Krejci. I think Toffoli’s play driving ability, and offense, would nicely compliment those guys.
Generally speaking, Boston plays the perfect style for Toffoli. They’re more of a slow build-up team than run-and-gun – much like LA during their good years – and we know Toffoli can excel in that style.
Toffoli could help out PP2 and give the team more consistent even-strength offense when the top line is catching a breather,
Out West, Calgary would have been my choice. Given their recent struggles, and Mark Giordano’s health status, I’m not sure they’re going to dive meaningfully into the rental market. I’ll choose their bitter rivals, Edmonton, instead.
With Kailer Yamamoto joining RNH and Leon Draisaitl, the Oilers have finally found a great recipe for the 2nd line. They are still searching for answers on the top unit, though.
As good as Connor McDavid is, I don’t think you can get the most out of him with *checks recent lines* Sam Gagner and Josh Archibald riding shotgun on L1. Depth would remain a serious issue even with Toffoli but the Oilers would/should be pretty confident a top-6 featuring McDavid, Draisaitl, RNH, Toffoli and Yamamoto can best the opposition’s top-6 on a pretty consistent basis.
Or, if they want to take a more balanced approach, the Oilers could go with something like this:
Neal - McDavid - Kassian
RNH - Draisaitl - Yamamoto
Gagner - Sheahan - Toffoli
Either way, Toffoli would be a great piece to add to the mix.

Tyler Toffoli is a really good player that will fit well on any team. He is pending UFA and his cap hit is $4.5 and I think he'll be one of the best players available at the dealing, probably at great value because of his recent decline in scoring. Toffoli might not be a 30 goal scorer anymore, but he's really not as far removed from his best season as it seems - he's had a long stretch of bad shooting luck, and only has a 7% shooting percentage this year.
This year he has a 56% Corsi and a P/60 of 1.87 which is decent second line production. Considering the cost of Chris Krieder, Toffoli should probably be the first choice among the assumed-to-be-available players of every team.
