Once again last night, the Canadiens were slow coming out of the gate. Carey Price had to weather the storm while the Ducks shot on his net 14 times. He looked a bit shaky early on, coming out of his crease at the wrong time but Victor Mete dislodged the net from its moorings to avoid the worst. He did get a delay of game penalty but the PK unit did its job and there was no harm. Late in the first, the Habs got a power play and Nick Suzuki managed to thread the needle and score his 11th goal of the year to put the Tricolore ahead by one after one. Slowly but surely the Habs rookie is climbing up the rankings in rookie scoring he now stands in 4th place with 34 points while Olofsson has 35 and Makar and Hughes (Quinn not Jack) are both tied at 40. In case I've not said it enough already, Suzuki really is the bright spot in Montreal this season and he gives us hope for a better future.

Anaheim managed to tied things up mid second period when Silferberg notched his 16th of the year but the tie barely lasted 3 minutes since the Habs' official spark plug, Brendan Gallagher, got his 18th of the year. You've got to wonder how mny he'd have if he hadn't been injured...Everyone's favorite vet, Kovalchuk, also got an assist on the play. The rest of the middle frame was pretty uneventful, both teams putting around 10 shots on the opponent's net.

The Ducks didn't intend to be an easy prey though and they got back on the board to put everyone back to square one 2 minutes into the 3rd. Both teams then played a prudent game to secure at least one point and the Bell Centre crowd rocked to Bon Jovi's Living on a Prayer once the said point was secured and the tension was palpable in the building as the puck dropped for the extra frame. It only took 25 seconds for a winner to be crown when Jeff Petry skated up the wing and blasted the shot past Gibson sending the crowd into a celebratory frenzy. I must admit that the social club at work had picked a good game to go see, even if that meant 3 hours there and back in a snow storm, everyone had a blast.

The Canadiens will be back in action tomorrow as the Leafs will roll into town...
