Neftehimik sacks their captain after he causes a car crash and flees

KHL's ''Neftehimik'' Nizhnekamsk have terminated their contract with captain Stepan Zakharchuk after the player caused a crash and ran away from the scene.

Zaharchuk drove his Toyota Land Cruiser 200 and crashed into another vehicle in an intersection and then hit a traffic light post. Following the accident player left his car on the site of the crash and walked away on foot. Only later police learned that the car belonged to the 33-year-old.


There are no details or information if the player was on any kind of influence of drugs or alcohol. He was caught on video while fleeing the scene.

After that the KHL club decided to terminate his contract.

Zakharchuk played 41 games during the 2019/2020 season recording 12 points (4+8)
