Don't look now but the Wild have won four in a row and have a 10 game point streak (7-0-3) with their 4-2 victory last night in Sunrise over the Panthers.

It did not start out well for the Wild who trailed 2-0 after the first period a frame in which they were outplayed significant margin. In the second they again were outshot by a 19-9 margin yet managed to even the score at two heading to the third.

Kaapo Kahkonen making his second career start held the fort and Carson Soucy took the opportune time to pinch taking the feed from Parise he slipped the puck past Panthers netminder, Chris Driedger for the Wild lead.

Kahkonen has surely gained a ton of confidence in his short NHL stint as the rookie took a shot at the empty net with the Wild holding that slim one goal margin. The shot ended with an icing call which was fortunate not to come back and bite the Wild as Florida dominated the faceoff circle all night. Either way that showed me a lot about the moxy of the kid which is something that cannot be taught.

The win was not all roses though as Jared Spurgeon left the game with a broken hand and will be out now for the foreseeable future.

Spurgeon is a huge loss as he is "the barometer" as Boudreau calls him. He plays in every situation and is the steadying force on the Wild blueline.

As we discussed yesterday Nick Seeler had lost his spot in the lineup to Soucy, so having a chip on his shoulder and something to prove moving back into the lineup should be a positive at the very least. Not saying that Spurgeon can be replaced by any stretch however having a player with something to prove step back in is at least the next best thing.

Add to that the return of Greg Pateryn soon will also help ease the loss of Spurg.

Next up Tampa tomorrow night.
