Quick Hits: December 2, 2019

1) After a complete off-day following a gauntlet of four games in five-and-a-half days, the Flyers returned to practice on Monday at the Skate Zone in Voorhees. The practice lines were as follows, with Shayne Gostisbehere and Chris Stewart as the apparent healthy scratches for Tuesday's home game against Toronto.

28 Claude Giroux - 48 Morgan Frost - 11 Travis Konecny
23 Oskar Lindblom - 14 Sean Couturier - 93 Jakub Voracek
21 Scott Laughton - 13 Kevin Hayes - 49 Joel Farabee
25 James van Riemsdyk - 12 Michael Raffl - 18 Tyler Pitlick

9 Ivan Provorov - 15 Matt Niskanen
6 Travis Sanheim - 61 Justin Braun
8 Robert Hägg - 5 Phil Myers
53 Shayne Gostisbehere - 44 Chris Stewart

79 Carter Hart
37 Brian Elliott

2) During practice, Elliott was stung by a shot that caught him in the wrong spot on his right hand. He dropped his stick and blocker, shaking his hand kicking the boards. However, after talking with trainer Jim McCrossin, Elliott returned to the crease and resumed practice.

3) The Flyers' 24-point performance in the month of November (10-2-4) topped the NHL. Here's a deep dive into 16 factors that shaped the team's output during their 16-game slate: Click here.

4) On Tuesday, the host Flyers will wrap up their season series with the Toronto Maple Leafs. Both games this season have gone to a shootout, with the Leafs winning the first one in Philadelphia and the Flyers prevailing in the rematch in Toronto. The Maple Leafs are 4-1-0 since Sheldon Keefe replaced Mike Babcock behind the Toronto bench. The team has scored 20 goals in that span and allowed just 11. The penalty kill is 9-for-10 and the power play has clicked at a 37.5 percent rate in the five-game span.

5) From Dec. 4 through Dec. 16, the Flyers Alumni will embark upon a new holiday season program that is expected to become an annual tradition: The 12 Days of Giving. Each day, the Flyers Alumni will make a donation and/or volunteer their time to a worthy community organization or person/family in need during the holiday season. Stay tuned for daily details of where the Alumni will be going each day.

6) On behalf of Snider Hockey, Flyers Alumni forward Danny Briere is participating in Snider Hockey's version of 12 Days of Giving; a fundraising program for Snider Hockey's programs. Today, Snider Hockey’s social media channels will post a video message from Briere, who also serves on the Snider Hockey Board of Directors, introducing Snider Hockey's #12DaysofGiving and his donation match.

Briere is backing the #12DaysOfGiving campaign by personally matching all donations (during the 12 days of giving campaign) and offering an additional $1 every time someone shares a @SniderHockey #12DaysOfGiving post during the 12 days of giving.

Over the next 12 days, starting tomorrow (Tue. Dec. 3), stay tuned on all Snider Hockey social channels as they share student success stories and reveal Flyers, 76ers, and other Philly prizes that you can win when you donate to Snider Hockey. You can follow program news via @SniderHockey on all of the organization's social media channels.

Every time you donate $20 to Snider Hockey throughout the #12DaysofGiving you will be entered for a chance to win the prize of the day (donations must be made before 11:59 p.m. ET to be eligible). Each $20 donation equals one chance but each additional donation in $20 increments equals additional chances. Winners will be randomly selected and notified by Snider Hockey staff by 5pm of the following day. For example, if you win the Day 1 prize, they will contact you on Day 2.

7) The Flyers Warriors hockey team celebrates their one-year anniversary today, dating from the time of the team's first hockey clinic. Yesterday, the program celebrated its first dual-squad practice with its new Tier 1 and Tier 2 rosters -- a step necessitated by the sheer growth of participation in one year and the wide diversity of players' hockey backgrounds and experience.

There is also a Flyers Warriors development program for first-time novice players. By doing it this way, the program can maintain its central intent -- providing an activity and support resource for local disabled veterans with an interest in playing hockey -- while also further elevating the program's ability to compete with the top-level USA Warrior Hockey program teams nationwide.
