Best Road Performance of the Season

A complete effort from the Wild on the road no less, with the 4-1 victory in Buffalo last night.

After their 1-6-0 start the Wild have very quietly turned things around with their 7-5-2 mark over the last 14 games.

Not sure exactly who this Wild team is right now and the bigger question is what does Bill Guerin do to make this team better long term?

It is no secret that the Wild need to get younger and faster and there are question marks about the goaltending position long term.

A lot gets said about the Parise and Suter contracts however both players are significant key players for the Wild still and yes that may change as the deals move out a few more seasons. The Spurgeon and Zuccarello deals do compound that as they are both on the wrong side of 30 as well with long term deals as well. They too are key components to the current roster.

Three of those four deals were inked by Guerin's predecessors with just the Spurgeon contract being the accredited to the new Wild GM. I have to think that Guerin weighed all the factors of making that 7 year commitment to Spurgeon and the future ramifications of the deal combined with the other three already in place.

Trusting that Guerin has a plan to make the Wild a contender with the aforementioned veterans being a big part of the glue that brings it all together.

So what to make of the recent inspired play from the team. Are they good enough to make a push up the standings? Do they want to make that a reality? Can Guerin get creative and cash in on some of the success and make a move to improve the club?

I for one am not the type that likes tanking anything however I do believe in trying to win with players that are going to be part of the future rather than seeing the same old same old.

Good to see a solid effort from the Wild last night and looking forward to what happens tomorrow night at home vs. Colorado.
