Game 21: Canadiens vs Blue Jackets AKA Missed Opportunities

I think tonight's game can be summarized in one word: frustration. The Canadiens weren't bad per se, I mean they did take 32 shots on goal but if Gretzky said that you don't score 100% of the shots you don't take, I think it's fair to say that you don't score 100% of the shots you don't place. That being said, you can't really expect to win if you give up 5 goals on 26 shots either and Carey Price did not have a good game either... His save percentage was barely above .800 and that is just not enough. Furthermore, the game winning goal was far from a beauty even though it was an unlucky goal from a weird bounce on the boards that Price just pushed in his own goal.

That being said, Price is by no means the only culprit. Tonight, Max Domi took a rather stupid penalty and that allowed the Jackets to put the game out of reach needing just 20 seconds on the power play. This means that in 2 games, Domi has taken 8 penalty minutes. One might argue that what he did wasn't that bad, that he barely touched the guy but the bottom like is, that was interference whether we (or Claude Julien) like it or not. The fact remains that so far this season, Domi has got 13 points in 21 games...last season at this stage he had 25 points, that is just not good enough.

It was nice to see both Lehkonen and Armia get a goal tonight, since both of them have been missing chances left, right and centre lately. It's just a shame that the Canadiens couldn't hang on to the lead they took in the second period.

The Canadiens have no time to dwell on this disastrous result, they'll fly back to Montreal tonight and take on the Ottawa Senators tomorrow. The Habs' loss combined with the Panthers' win means that the Tricolore is now 3rd in the division and they could really use to 2 points tomorrow.
