We have a Sidney Crosby update and we know he is going to miss at least one game
At least we don’t have the dreaded week to week diagnosis yet. Although it always seems to be lurking around the corner when we are dealing with injuries to Crosby, Malkin, and Letang.
Here’s what the lines looked like without Crosby
This would be a great time for Alex Galchenyuk and Nick Bjugstad to join the party. They have combined for four points and a single goal. Bjugstad has the goal and Galchenyuk has the assists. Halloween is over so if Bjugstad wants to take his Derrick Brassard costume off that would be great. You know Malkin is going to bring it with Crosby out of the lineup and some of the other centers are going to have to step up as well. This includes Bjugstad. I wouldn’t be against trying Galchenyuk at center and moving Bjugstad to wing. It’s worth trying some different things to get these players going. You need your mid-tier contracts to give value especially when you overpay some of the players further down the depth chart.
I can see both of these players being traded away before the season is over if they don’t get it going. If so, we can just add them to the ever growing list of players who get traded within a year of being acquired.
