Afternoon Update: Nov. 6, 2019

1) The Flyers made a roster move on Wednesday morning. For the second time in less than a month, the team recalled center Mikhail Vorobyev from the AHL's Lehigh Valley Phantoms. The club sent 2016 first-round pick German Rubtsov, who had a three-game stint with the big club in his first NHL recall, back to the Phantoms.

Rubtsov played 8:00 (14 shifts), 6:54 (13 shifts) and 7:52 (11 shifts) over his three games with the team. With the Phantoms, he will go back to see all-situations ice time for the duration of his return trip to Allentown.

The Phantoms are back in action tonight, hosting the Wilkes Barre/Scranton Penguins at the PPL Center. Vorobyev was on hand in Voorhees and practiced with the Flyers.

2) In addition to bringing back Vorobyev and sending down Rubtsov, the Flyers also made a line combination adjustment at practice today in advance of hosting the Montreal Canadiens at the Wells Fargo Center on Thursday night. With the team looking for more stability on their fourth line, Michael Raffl switched spots with Carsen Twarynski. Carter Hart will get another start in goal.

Thursday's projected lineup:

25 James van Riemsdyk - 28 Claude Giroux - 49 Joel Farabee
23 Oskar Lindblom - 14 Sean Couturier - 11 Travis Konecny
81 Carsen Twarynski - 13 Kevin Hayes - 92 Jakub Voracek
12 Michael Raffl - 24 Mikhail Vorobyev - 18 Tyler Pitlick

9 Ivan Provorov - 15 Matt Niskanen
53 Shayne Gostisbehere - 61 Justin Braun
6 Travis Sanheim - 5 Phil Myers

79 Carter Hart
[37 Brian Elliott]

Projected scratches: 8 Robert Hägg, 44 Chris Stewart.

3) At today's practice, the Flyers welcomed dozens of active-duty military members as their guests at practice. Goaltender Brian Elliott, whose wife is a veteran, served as the unofficial host but all of the players met with the servicemen and women. At the conclusion of practice, the players tapped and raised their sticks as a salute to the military members watching from the stands.

4) The new edition of the Bundy and Bill podcast, featuring Chris Therien and myself, will be online shortly. It can be found either on Flyers Radio 24/7 or for free download at Flyers Podcast Central.

5) On the Flyers official site today, I took at five key factors that are driving the team's 5-1-1 start at home thus far. Thursday's game concludes a three-game homestand.
