Coyotes Look to a Different (but Still Magical) Unicorn Tonight vs Flames

The Coyotes are going to visit the Calgary Flames tonight, in the province of Alberta, the happiest place on earth!

Also known as the Texas of the north (due to the same bad hats but without the city of Austin) the loudest part of the West now wants to hilariously separate from Canada. (Note: just a wacky minority. Not the actual province).

Of course, since Alberta is landlocked in the middle of the country, the jokes just write themselves.

Suffice to say, the NHL won't be adding a third country to its roster any time soon. (Unless that third country is Mexico, of which there is a ten billion percent higher likelihood of happening).

Anyhoo, the Coyotes will be traveling to the city of Calgary to play the Flames tonight.

Yesterday they were in Edmonton, where they beat the Oilers 3-2 in overtime. The Coyotes played terribly, but relied - as they are wont to do - on the magical unicorn they have playing net for them.

Darcy Kuemper is the new Dominic Hasek.

Pass it on. (or he's the new Dominic Monaghan)

(Sick Lost reference JT)

The Coyotes are 8th in the NHL in terms of point-percentage and will look to keep it going after (mostly) shutting down McDavid and co. last night, and shutting out the Avalanche on Saturday (a game they also got crushed in, however).

The Coyotes are 12th in Corsi-For.

7th in shot-percentage.

8th in goals-for percentage.

2nd in our hearts (sorry this guy is a Leafs fan first and foremost).

14th in scoring-chance percentage.

4th best in save percentage.

Which is crazy because they have the sixth lowest shooting percentage and still have a PDO over 100.

So while they are getting lucky, at least some of that luck should come back to them in the form of some extra goals.

Just how many and when is anyone's guess.

The Coyotes are getting almost 94% goaltending, and yet somehow are just in fourth in the league.

I am legally required to mention that while the Islanders are 2nd in the NHL in save percentage and PDO they are definitely totally for real you guys!

Being as it's a back-to-back, Annti Raanta will take the pipes tonight. Same day, different unicorn. Noamsayin?
