Straight from the source of all sources, the Bobfather himself updated Evgeni Malkin’s status on NBCSN’s intermission report. Here is the paraphrased update:

At this point is that Malkin and Galchenuyk did hard skating prior to Penguins practice before team left on the road trip. Both getting closer. No timeline. Galchenyuk ahead of Malkin. Seeing Malkin skating as hard as he was is obviously a good sign.

Not the juicy update I was expecting, but I suppose it is positive none the less.

McKenzie added Nick Bjugstad and/or Bryan Rust should be back Saturday which should help out with the depth.
