Not everyone out there can afford to shell out $100 plus on a box of wax these days and it's nice to see that Upper Deck is still putting out some budget releases out there. At the $60 price point, this is definitely a family friendly product and with 20 packs of 8 cards it's sure to keep kids interested. Furthermore, unlike OPC, this release includes some autographs. However, you're far from guaranteed to get one if you buy a box since we're talking about long odds... from 1:621 packs to 1:27,404 packs. I think it's a fair comparison to say that MVP is a bit like a lite version of Artifacts parallel wise. While Artifacts has got plenty of color parallel, MVP has got its silver scripts, super scripts (#25), Colours and contours versions and also gold and purple (#99) Spectrum light backgrounds.

Even though the price is in the same range as OPC, the base set is nowhere near as extensive with a checklist of 250 cards, 20 of which being short print stars and 30 of which being short print rookies. If you are a set collector, this release might be easier to complete than OPC considering its much more reasonable checklist.

Upper Deck was nice enough to provide us with a box to break for review purposes and here are the hits we received:

I've never been a huge fan of parallel based product so it's probably why I didn't enjoy the break all that much, that being said, each to their own and a lot of people do enjoy building parallel sets or rainbows. I do like the inclusion of the puzzle back cards which adds a bit of a chase element if someone want to put together any given player's complete puzzle although i'll admit that I initially though those were misprint before I looked at the back. This is definitely a fun release for younger collectors and probably the ideal one to introduce them to the hobby while also having some odds of getting an autograph. Thanks to Upper Deck for providing us with this box to review and if you are interested in any of the hits, please do let me know.
