The Edmonton Oilers have had the best start to their season in over a decade, and tonight they will aim to win their 5th game in a row; something that has not been done in team history since 1985. A weird scheduling decision has Edmonton facing against a Rangers team that has only played two games, with their last game occuring exactly one week ago.

The Rangers are undefeated in their first two games, in large part off of new additions Jacob Trouba and Artemi Panarin. Both players have four points through the Rangers first two games and are paying off quickly. For Edmonton, now on their third game of the road trip, the most important thing they need is to keep up their pace and shut these two down.

I am on the road today and the lineups have not yet been released. It is likely that at least one of Archibald or Chiasson will draw back in but due to the roster size they might be held off for another game. Lunquist will get the start for the Rangers.

3 KEYS TO VICTORY

1.) Learn from the mistakes - Edmonton came out flat against the Rangers and had it not been for some late heroics from Connor McDavid, would have been handed their first loss of the season. Edmonton needs to establish themselves quickly and limit the errant passes.

2.) Too well rested - As previously mentioned, a bizarre scheduling decision has had the Rangers play two games while Edmonton is now on their fifth. New York will certainly be buzzing to play in game action but Edmontom has the seasoning advantage. The Oiler need to jumo on the Rangers quickly.

3.) A very beatable Henrik- Lunquist has been one of the best goalies in the NHL over the past decade but is finally starting to show signs of slowing down. The team has a new heir in Georgiev but it will be the big H who plays tonight.

OILERS PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - ETHAN BEAR

Bear has been a great surprise thus far for Edmonton but has yet to appear on the scoresheet. Something tells me Bear changes that tonight

RANGERS PLAYER SPOTLIGHT - KAPPO KAKKO

The second overall pick has only played two games but has yet to get on the scoresheet yet. It's great to witness the next generation of NHL talent so early in the season.

Sorry for the short blog I will post tomorrow with more detailed thoughts on the game.
