Former soccer goalie turns into a pro hockey goalie

37-year old Petr Cech is swapping football boots for hockey skates.

Just a few weeks after appearing in goal for London Arsenal team in UEFA super cup Cech has retired from professional football and signed with Guildford Pheonix team in UK's National Ice Hockey League Division 2.

Head coach Andy Hemmings stated that the Czech goalie and his addition to the squad is ''Massive for the Phoenix team'' saying that he's excited to see the player make his debut.


''I am delighted to have the opportunity to play with the Phoenix to get the match experience. I hope I can help this young team achieve their goals for the season and try to win as many games as possible. when I have the chance to play, after 20 years of professional football this is going to be a wonderful experience for me to play the game I loved to watch and play as a kid'' the newly acquired goalie revealed in a press release.

Smart move? We'll see but it's truly exciting and a story that you should follow along.
