The San Jose Sharks have brought old friend Patrick Marleau back to The Bay on a one-year deal worth the NHL minimum $700,000.

For Marleau, it's an obvious homecoming, as the 40-year-old spent the first 19 years of his NHL career with the Sharks, and scored 508 goals and totaled 1,082 points in 1,493 games. Drafted with the No. 2 overall pick in 1997, Marleau ranks first among all San Jose skaters in all-time goals (508), points (1,082), power-play goals (160), shorthanded goals (17), shots (3,798), and game-winning goals (98).

Marleau spent two years with the Maple Leafs after leaving San Jose the first time around, scoring 43 goals and 84 points in 164 games before the team traded him to the Carolina Hurricanes, where he was immediately bought out.
