Mark Stone will be a Hart Trophy finalist.
I’m not sure this should be considered bold – Stone is one of the league’s best players – but it is because he’s not going to score 50 goals or put up 100 points like the game’s biggest offensive superstars.
He has averaged a point per game over the last two seasons, though, and I think he could have a little more to give playing for a significantly more talented team than he was on in Ottawa.
If that’s the case, there’s potential to contend for hardware because he drives play at an elite level, is exceptional defensively, and draws tons of penalties.
All he needs to seriously get in the conversation is more people to realize how good he is – that shouldn’t be a problem with extra eyes on him now that he plays for a contender – and a boost in production so he can at least ballpark with the usual candidates.
I think we’ll see that.

I’ll predict that the Arizona Coyotes will make the playoffs.
The Pacific Division is woefully weak, so the Coyotes should have an opportunity to win games against the likes of Edmonton, Vancouver, Los Angeles, and Anaheim on at least a semi-regular basis. The Coyotes were a middle-of-the-pack xGF% team last year per Corsica, and added some scoring punch in the form of Phil Kessel this year. Combine that with the fact that their PDO as a team last year ranked 26th at 5v5, and I don’t think it’s unreasonable to predict a jump in the standings for a team that is often forgotten.

Petterson is the second highest scorer in the division. The Alien is unique and with the additions of Miller and Myers to the Canucks roster...
Who are we kidding?
Okay, seriously. The Alien could be something special and aside from McDavid and Gaudreau who is there to challenge him? Think if it this way McDavid is going to have to miss 1/3 of the season to give anyone in the Pacific a chance of being near him but what about Gaudreau? The Flames want to improve but how much more is there to improve other than making it past the first round of the playoffs? The Division is easy and there's a chance that the Alien is one of the few bright spots and if so he could be incredibly bright.
