Training Camp Battles Heat Up

Wild camp is highly competitive this year and for good reason. The team is coming off a down season in which they missed the playoffs. Their GM was unceremoniously canned after just one season. The head coach enters the final year of his contract. The owner is willing to do what it takes to put a winning product on the ice.

So a skirmish at camp is only fitting as veteran JT Brown and youngster, Louie Belpedio had a tussle today. That is just the result of the boys literally fighting for their positions within the organization.

The Wild need a whole lot more of the players battling and fighting for their jobs. Not necessarily the literal fighting, however if that is what it takes then so be it.

It has been far too long since someone came in and earned a roster spot in camp, that really was not expected.

There has been far too much complacency in Wild land over the past six or seven years and that all needs to change before the product on the ice does.

The hope is that new GM, Bill Guerin, will foster an atmosphere of intensity that gets the players motivated to perform and not just to cash paychecks.
