From all accounts new Wild GM, Bill Guerin, made a lasting first impression with his welcome speech to the club.

He made 8t clear that he is here to put a winning product on the ice and that the players will compete for everything that they get.

Matt Dumba spoke up saying that he loves Guerin's intensity and that he is ready to run through the wall for the man.

If that doesn't get the spirit going not much more will. Dumba is the one player that brings an intensity that is most visible to even the casual viewer. Not saying he is the only guy that has that burning desire it is just that #24 has a way of displaying it like no other Wild player.

Dumba is the top talent on the Wild roster and he is stepping into the leadership role that needs to be part of his continuing maturation as a star in this league.

Prior to his 2018-18 season being cut short Dumba was on his way to a 30 goal campaign.

Not much is expected from the Wild per the Hockey experts and they may be right given the ever difficult Central Division. That said the games will still be played and the Wild are much better off today than they were at this point a year ago when they were looking to extend their six year playoff streak.

There is a new sheriff in town. Let's see how this unfolds.
