Quick Hits: September 13, 2019
1) The Flyers 2019 training camp is underway. As I write this morning's blog, Group C (the Rookie Camp group minus the big-name prospects such Joel Farabee, Morgan Frost, Isaac Ratcliffe and Phil Myers) is on the ice. During the early days of camp, there will be three groups.
2) As announced last night, the Flyers have signed Ivan Provorov to a six-year contract with a $6.75 million average annual value. It is a good deal for both sides. The Flyers are taking a small leap of faith that their single most important defenseman will bounce back from a subpar 2018-19 season. Provorov, meanwhile, traded off the chance to make significantly more in a few years if he'd taken a bridge deal (assuming he played to expectations) in order to have long-term security. Provorov pre-empted two years of potential unrestricted free agency to sign this deal. Provorov will be out on the ice on Friday with Group A.
3. Group A will skate from 10:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. on the Flyers rink, and from 11:00 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. on the Phantoms rink. The grouping is as follows.

4) Travis Konency remains unsigned at the start of camp. As of last night, he was still in Ontario. Negotiations will continue on Friday but he will not be with the team on the first day of camp.
5) Per Flyers general manager Chuck Fletcher, Nolan Patrick has an upper-body injury. He has not been cleared to participate on the ice at the start of camp.
6) The first roster cut was announced on Friday morning. The Flyers have reassigned goaltender Roddy Ros, a 2019 sixth-round pick, back to his junior team, the WHL's Seattle Thunderbirds.
